Dr. Steven Yang is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in adult reconstructive surgery, with a focus on primary and revision hip and knee replacement. He has specialized training in modern arthroplasty techniques, including anterior-approach hip replacement, partial knee replacement, and computer-assisted knee replacement. He also treats patients who have complications from failed or painful hip and knee replacements.

Dr. Yang’s clinical treatment is guided by personalized and unique care for each patient in order to maximize their function and quality of life. He strives to make the best decision for individualized care, whether that means non-operative treatments or surgery. When an operation is needed, Dr. Yang’s approach to surgery and perioperative care is evidence and outcomes-based, centering around the least invasive and most tissue-sparing techniques which will allow for safe surgery and expedite recovery, and incorporating the newest technologies that have demonstrated improvements in surgical outcomes.

Dr. Yang has published numerous articles and book chapters in the field of joint replacement. His specific research interests include metal allergy in total hip and total knee replacement, techniques in anterior hip replacement, and enhancing function in the younger population of joint replacement patients.

Dr. Yang is a Southern California and Orange County native. He graduated from Sunny Hills High School, and obtained his undergraduate degree in Bioinformatics from the University of California San Diego, where he also obtained a master’s degree in molecular biology. He received his M.D. and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Miami. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and a fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery at Columbia University.
